Sr. Data Engineer (Remote)

People are the heart of our company, and our doors are open to everyone. As a customer, as an employee – we are committed to creating an inspiring culture that is welcoming, safe and inclusive for all. Our strength in work and life comes from the combination of our experiences, backgrounds and talents. It’s what we do as people that makes Lands’ End a great place to shop and a great place to work.

We are looking for a Sr. Data Engineer to join our growing team of data science and data engineering experts. You will be responsible for aiding in the design and development of our new data processing and analytics platform while working on cross functional projects with teams across the company. You should have a strong background in cloud services, Java/Scala, Python, Spark, and data processing/warehousing with a desire for digging into the underlying technology of the services you are using. You don’t believe the hype behind claims like “It just works” and the buzzwords of the week and you highly value understanding the why instead of just the how. This role will require migrating a legacy code base and tech stack to a more modern, cohesive, condensed, and dynamic system. An emphatic love for implementing strong standards, and reusable/easily readable and maintainable code is a must for this position.

As a more senior member of the data engineering team, you would support data scientists/analysts and other engineering teams on data initiatives to ensure that optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects. You are a strong, standards driven engineer, mentor, and are comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems, and products. You are a quick learner and don’t mind explaining complicated technical concepts when necessary. In addition, you are excited by the prospect of optimizing or even re-designing the company’s data architecture to support our next generation platform. You enjoy challenges, are willing to push technical boundaries, and consistently strive to make data driven decisions.

To help with your efforts, you can expect a comprehensive technology stack, talented co-workers, an AWS-based analytics environment with a comprehensive array of batch and real-time data, and a data science team developing algorithms to enhance business performance and the customer experience using agile development processes. Because of its dedication and efforts, Lands’ End is #19 on the NRF’s list of fasting growing retailers and an Internet Retailer top 100 company, and a great part of your future.
