JOB PURPOSE:
The IT Business Analyst is a key member of the Business Strategy and Services (BSS) team within Financial Management Services (FMS) and is responsible for providing data analysis and modeling in support of Business Affairs and FMS projects, initiatives, and operational reports.
The analyst’s key responsibilities will be to collect data and perform complex analysis on financial and system data and related activities and bring technical expertise to ensure the quality and accuracy of the data. The Analyst will design, process, and present the analysis to help the team make better strategic decisions for the organization. The analysis may require a deep understanding of the business processes, policies and systems supported by FMS, in an effort to identify trends and behaviors represented in the data.
Additional responsibilities will include writing business requirements; designing solutions; recommending system enhancements, controls and protocols as well as supporting projects to ensure that the University’s financial system needs are addressed in an efficient and optimal manner.
The Business Strategy & Services team, within Financial Management Services, is a team of experienced business architects and business analysts responsible for driving strategic initiatives, innovation and continuous improvements that increase client enablement through effective business relationships, outreach, customer support and training.
The IT Business Analyst will work in Spend Intelligence whose group sits within BSS and will support the development of sustainable and innovative supply strategies which will be delivered through collaborative engagement with other BSS teams, FMS teams, Campus Constituents, other Central departments, and university departments. Performing data analysis will support the team’s outreach services to university financial managers and financial analysts to advance initiatives assigned to BSS. The scope of his/her activities will have a high institutional impact as the projects will involve multiple systems and strategic initiatives affecting a broad range of university activities. This position will work closely to identify areas of efficiency gains and savings opportunities.
This position may be heavily involved with the following Oracle Applications: Accounts Payable, iExpense, iProcurement, Purchasing, Credit Card Programs (TCard, PCard), Grants (Projects), General Ledger, Oracle Business Intelligence in addition to Stanford financial custom applications. Other applications/programs/skills include: ServiceNow, Financial Assurance Navigator, Spend Analytics, Salesforce, SQL, R, Python, Tableau, Incorta. Knowledge on how to gather data from these and other systems is highly desirable.
