The Data and Program Analyst is responsible for supporting the Director of Strategic Impact with the maintenance of large data sets, including the mining and cleaning of data from multiple sources. In collaboration with Office of Performance Management (OPM) and the leadership team, the person in this role will regularly review existing data collection systems and processes to identify improvements and propose solutions to address them. The Data analyst will collect and manage the data and help analyze and conceptualize strategies to share findings to a variety of audiences at Children’s Aid. The person in this role will work to ensure data validity, reliability and alignment to the program model. The Data analyst will support data collection, cleaning and creation of reports for contract deliverables and private funder requests. The Data Analyst will report to the Director of Strategic Impact.

Salary: $60,000 - $70,000 (Annually)

Responsibilities:

• Support the design and maintenance of the back end of data systems and databases; including the maintenance of large data sets in Excel, SPSS, etc.
• Mining data from primary and secondary sources, then reorganizing data in a format that can be easily used by program staff, data intern or data systems
• Use statistical tools to interpret data, paying attention to trends and patterns valuable for diagnostic or predictive efforts
• Collaborate with the OPM, Director Strategic Impact, Central Youth Division staff and Program staff to carry out process improvements and system modifications
• Provide technical assistance and build program capacity, where needed
• Meet with programmatic staff to gain contextual knowledge around data to better align systems and interpret data
• Generate, maintain and automate reporting
• Create appropriate documents that allow staff to understand the steps of the analysis process and duplicate/replicate the analysis as necessary.
• Define best practices and new processes to collect, analyze and manage data
• Respond to internal and external data requests in an efficient and timely matter
• Other relevant duties as requested by the Director of Strategic Impact

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• 3 years working on a data team, preferably in non profit or within a school setting
• Demonstrated experience in handling large data sets and relational databases
• High level written and verbal communication skills
• Basic knowledge of SQL, R, Python, SPSS or similar required.
• Strong knowledge of Excel or Google Sheets and data visualization software such as Tableau required.
• Team player with good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to present data appropriately to multiple stakeholders
• Occasional travel to sites throughout Manhattan, the Bronx and Staten Island required
• Maintain confidentiality of employee and client information
• Comfortable making data related decisions with a quick turn around
• Project Management skills
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment and prioritize projects
• Detailed Oriented and can work independently and efficiently
