Why we`re hiring

Alloy is rapidly growing and seeking a Data Engineer to help us further develop and maintain our data warehouse and BI/analytics tools (Looker). One of our emerging priorities as an organization is to develop best-in-class operational metrics and forecasts, and this role have the opportunity to work on a high-priority initiative inside the company.

You`ll get to work with a modern data infrastructure stack - Postgres, Snowflake, Looker, dbt, Fivetran and airflow. Our data engineers get to work cross functionally and will have an important role in shaping the roadmap for our internal analytics tools, including the metrics that we will use to guide customers, negotiate contracts, forecast future revenue and measure the health of our business. In addition to developing and growing as an engineer, you`ll get a birds-eye view into the operations and strategy of a rapidly growing financial services API company. You`ll be a valued member of a friendly and experienced engineering team, working closely with backend and frontend engineers. What you`ll be doing

As a Data Engineer at Alloy, you`ll:

• Help implement and formalize data models in the data warehouse / metrics store based on specs & roadmaps developed by the ops/business teams.
• Build and automate data transformation/ingestion pipelines to build clean and reliable data sets in dbt, Snowflake, Fivetran and airflow.
• Collaborate with business operations, revenue, sales and client success teams to develop roadmaps and measure critical areas of the business.
• Provide architecture suggestions for new infrastructure as our data warehousing infrastructure scales.
• Build monitoring & alerting tools to monitor the health of our infrastructure.

Who we`re looking for

Reporting to the Director of Data, a successful applicant will likely have these skills.

Required:

• 2 or more years of data engineering (or related) experience
• Strong software development habits (git/version control, design patterns, facility with dev & prod environments, testing, code reviews, writing strong tickets)
• Excellent SQL / relational databases skills, specifically Postgres
• Data warehousing experience

Preferred:

• Python
• Snowflake
• Looker
• dbt
• Fivetran
• airflow

Nice to have:

• BI experience, especially Looker
• Experience with streaming data
• API experience (postman, python requests)
• Data science / machine learning experience is a plus
• Finance or startup experience
• Majored in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or Machine Learning
