NYL’s Center for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence is hiring graduate students or recent graduates on a temporary basis with full time hours (40 hours per week). We are looking for candidates that can fill roles immediately as well as for summer interns to start in May / June 2022.

Ideal candidates have or are in the process of obtaining a Master’s or PhD in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science with Data Science emphasis or another field which is highly analytical and quantitative. As a member of our team you will have the opportunity to gain real-life work experience, develop your skills, and begin building a network in a professional environment.

The Center for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence is New York Life’s centralized data science team. We support multiple areas of the company including Agency, Finance, Marketing, Underwriting, Product, Actuarial, and more. Our projects are as varied as the data that we use. While we are using the latest in machine learning methods for some projects, for others we adopt a more traditional approach. The opportunity to provide real data science solutions to our business partners will make this internship very rewarding.

Qualifications

• Recipient or in process of obtaining a Master’s or PhD in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or another field which is highly analytical / quantitative in nature
• Exposure and experience with standard statistical techniques: GLM, Logistic Regression, GBM, Random Forests, Experimental Design, etc.
• Excellent skills in Python R.
• Good feature engineering skills, ability to use SQL if needed
• Strong business sense and personable
• Self-directed and independent

Compensation is competitive. Relocation / housing support will not be provided.

Our office is located in New York City near Madison Square Park on Madison Ave between 26th and 27th street. Internships will likely be partially remote / partially in the office.
