Job Title: Sustainability Data Analyst

Reports to: Product and Packaging Sustainability Manager

Location: Remote

The Role

The Sustainability Data Analyst will work closely with the Product and Packaging Sustainability Manager and the broader sustainability team to provide solutions for the collection, management, and preparation of various sustainability data sets and results. The ideal candidate is interested in sustainability, has a passion for data management, and desire learn the importance of all qualitative and quantitative metrics that Deckers collects/analyzes for each of our brands. This includes driving collaboration cross-functionally with company-wide teams with close oversight by the Product and Packaging Sustainability Manager to ensure that the company’s sustainability efforts enhance business performance and supports the long-term interests of the company.

Your Impact

The primary functions of this role, include but are not limited to:

1. Data Management and Integration

• Work closely with the Product and Packaging Sustainability Manager and assist the Sustainability Team with various projects to support and add value to Deckers Sustainability program.
• Overhaul and automate current sustainability database systems and reporting structures through computer scripting solutions.
• Strategically support Deckers environmental sustainability program, Life Cycle Assessment, and circularity projects.
• Design and implement computer scripting solutions for all assumptions and logic into our data systems.
• Serve as subject matter expert on data management and data analytics.

2. Data Analytics

• Creation of data analytics systems to increase efficiency and monitor progress related to the company`s sustainability initiatives.
• Creation of platforms to help disseminate information to our corporation, brands and partners by modelling qualitative and quantitative environmental related data reflective of current and future materials, products, franchises, and entire enterprise.
• Creation of platforms to catalog carbon accounting data required by the Science-Based Targets Initiative, Carbon Disclosure Project, various sustainability indices Deckers participates in.
• Work with cross-functional teams, both internally and externally, to further our program’s analytical exploration and identify potential opportunities for improvement. This may require learning new systems depending on experience.
• Serve as record keeper of all assumptions, equations, regressions, and past data.
• Manages and designs the reporting environment to procure reports detailing various business objectives for the Sustainability Team (e.g. SKUS which have preferred content by a particular retailer) and ad hock analyses.

We’d love to hear from people with

• 3+ years’ experience in data management and/or computer science.
• Has interest or experience in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA/LCIA), environmental benchmarking, and circularity reporting.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office specifically Excel, Python, SQL, FlexPLM, and Oracle.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) for Windows applications.
• Highly organized with keen attention to detail in following up on inquiries and documenting progress
• Highly motivated and energetic, willing to learn and contribute to the needs of a demanding and dynamic Sustainability Team.
• Knowledge of AWS systems and Tableau a plus.
