University Hiring Program Eligibility Requirements:

  • University Enrollment: Must be currently enrolled in and returning to an accredited degree-seeking academic program in the Fall.
  • Internship Work Period: Must be available to work full-time (approximately 40 hours per week) during a 10-12 week period starting May or June. Specific start dates are shared during the recruiting process.

Primary Function of Position:

This position reports to the Director of Enterprise Analytics. The Enterprise Analytics Team is looking for candidates with an interest in using Data and Analytics to deliver the insights that power Intuitive’s decision making and further our mission of advancing what’s possible in minimally invasive care.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Perform data analyses to deliver useful business insights
  • Work with business users to help translate business needs into analytics requirements
  • Work with Data Engineers, Data Architects, to define back-end requirements for data products
  • Data investigation to discover correlations / trends and the ability to explain them
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders on how to best leverage analytics to inform better business decisions and optimization operations
  • Understand the decision-making process, workflows, and business and information needs of our analytic teams
  • Proactively mine data warehouse to identify trends and patterns and generate insights for business units and senior leadership
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and strategies with technology solutions
  • Recommend, develop, and implement improved processes to collect/analyze data, and visualize/present insights

Skills, Experience, Education, & Training:

  • Current enrollment in a Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Data Science / Analytics, or related degree-seeking program at the Bachelor’s or Master’s level
  • Experience solving analytical problems using quantitative methods
  • Experience with SQL or other programming languages (e.g. Python)
  • Identify actionable insights, suggest recommendations and influence our business by communicating results to cross-functional groups
  • Experience with data visualization tools (especially Tableau)
  • Experience with dashboard design and information visualization techniques
  • Strong analytical skills – creative problem solver with the ability to aggregate, cleanse and analyze a large amount of data from various sources
  • Working knowledge of database technologies (e.g. ODBC, Access, SQL)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to investigate issues to root cause, understand and explain trends/shifts in data
  • Nice to have: familiarity with machine learning techniques
  • Curious, motivated, with a passion for deriving meaning from data and optimizing visual display of information
