Install servers and network hardware.
Respond and resolve requests / faults logged internally and externally under direct supervision.
Rack and Stack, cabling to include electrical, copper, fiber.
Perform requests assigned through internal tracking system, work orders, special projects as assigned by Manager.
Actively monitor all servers and DC resources (power, cooling and space).
Work with NCSECU Data Center Engineers to configure hardware and software installations.
Maintain Data Center inventory.
Escalate problems and issues to Network Operations Team.
Work closely with teams throughout the organization.
Work closely with 3rd party service providers.
Process first line alarms and disruptions in critical facility systems.
Attend training relevant to SECU Data Center support.
Keeps the data center organized and efficient.
Performs advanced support and troubleshooting across a range of disciplines within the department.
Responsible for Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity documentation of projects.
Communicates with the Infrastructure, Technical Services, Engineering and IS Operations teams to determine network and server needs.
Coordinates with network and server operations for scheduled maintenance, repairs, or upgrades.
Develops and implements solutions for Data Center and Ops Center monitoring and problem solving.
Develops and documents conceptual, logical, or physical cabinet and equipment layout designs.
Evaluates designs to determine the most efficient and effective solution.
Participates in network and server technology upgrade or expansion projects, including installation of hardware and software and integration testing.
Prepares detailed cabinet layout specifications for recommended
technologies including diagrams, charts, equipment configurations.
Supports equipment repairs and upgrades - this includes hardware and
shipment verification.
Provides daily, weekly and monthly status reports on data center operations
and projects.
Maintains Databases & Spreadsheets (Cabinet/Rack inventory, etc.).
Programs and maintains monitoring devices, software, and web sites. This
includes configuring and managing management technologies such as IBM`s
RSA and HP`s ILO and SIM.
Coordinates installation of new equipment.
Researches and evaluates various equipment configuration prototypes -
including network hardware, servers or server operating systems to
incorporate them in Data Center environment for maximum efficiency and
updates as required.
Works with disaster recovery team and helps plan implementation and
development of related documentation.
Communicates with vendors to gather information about products, alert them
to future needs, resolve problems and address system maintenance issues and
makes recommendations to management.
Keeps the data center organized and efficient.
Performs related duties as assigned.
